I signed up for 110mb's free service a while ago, and was immediately struck by the lack of features that would normally come with a free host. On a free account, there is no FTP, no MySQL, no .htaccess, and you're not even allowed to upload MP3 files. To upgrade your account to have such luxuries, you would need to pay roughly $40 (more if you want email). In addition to this, I've experienced frequent downtime, often for days at a time, and have recieved no service or even explanation after filing tickets. When 110mb isn't inexplicably down, its sites run at a speed so slow that any DSL/cable user will be convinced they have been switched to dial-up. 110mb is easily the worst free host I have ever encountered, and I definitely do not recommend it.

The storage, bandwidth and up time is great. The server speed is horrible, it averages at about 65 KB/s so don't expect to have large web pages or photo galleries or even small downloads available unless you want your visitors to be twiddling their thumbs waiting for the content to arrive to their browser. This is true for both free and paid hosting. This is because 110mb hosting is specifically meant to host mainly text sites. Just read their TOS and that's they state.

So, if you want to host your text documents, they are the perfect host for you.

The forum community is the worst I have ever seen. I asked what the server speeds were and jokingly commented that it's so slow for my site that It would be faster if I hosted it on my home computer.

Well, to my surprise, that comment was thought of as an insult. Only 3 people, who had less than 100 posts, actually attempted to answer the question. On the other hand most of the posts were off topic and had nothing to do with what my question or comment was about. Even the most active moderator of the forum gave no input but, instead chose to add comments about how my electric bill would increase if I ran the site off my computer and if I didn't like the slow speeds, I should not use 110mb as a host.

I did not like the speeds and that is why I will not use them as my host.

I am in no way spiteful in the actions of the community, I am however disappointed as my question still has not been answered.

Good luck to anyone who chooses 110mb as their host.

I have been a member of 110MB since 2008. There has been an ownership change recently and the new owners are pushing for paid accounts and want to throw off free accounts. They are killing the forums as well as blocking free accounts and discouraging free users in every possible ways.

I started to use 110mb.com almost 4 months ago. At that time it probably was the best free web host existing on the www. 5 GB disk space, 300 GM Bandwidth, easy access by ftp, good upload speed (and I'm quite far from the USA...) and so on. So... all these for free. Of course, I took advantage of this and uploaded a big photo collection on the site. Everything went good until the beginning of April 2009. After that moment.... usually my site is down or is working at a very, VERY low speed. The interesting thing is that I can upload or download files from the website by ftp very fast, but the site is usually down. Of course, I tried to use their support forum... all good and well but.... when I try to login the login page either remain unchanged (until my browser gives up), either my username and password are NOT recognized. This problem happens also in IE7 & Firefox 3, so it's not caused by my browser. I really don't understand what happened with 110MB.... from one of the best free web-hosting services, they became one of the worst, without any explanation. So, as a conclusion, I don't really recommend you to use 110mb.com at this moment. Maybe these problems will be solved and 110MB will became again what it was one month again, but until that moment....

I love it. I have had alot of hosts, free and paid, but none really came close to what 110mb can provide for free. Their uptime is great and I only have a problem accessing my site MAYBE once every 5 months and then its only for half a day or so. Getting support was a pleasant experience, and even though they have some features that you have to pay for, they aren't expensive. And all free accounts have no ads...what else could you want?

This is the worst hosting company I've ever had dealings with. Find an alternative, I have no suggestions because I just started looking for a new company, but trust me you are just opening yourself up to being frustrated by one of the most unprofessional hosting companies on the net. There staff amounts to dealing with children. I cannot imagine that the average age of their staff being over 16 years of age. The down time of their servers is beyond offensive. It may be a free service, but if this is what you are going to get for free, you'll save yourself a lot of time and aggrivation by paying a hosting company 2 or 3 dollars a month and not have to put up with all the nonsense going on over there. I wish you all luck in finding a hosting company. But hope you do not fall into the same trap as I did by signing up with 110mb.com and hope you don't make the same mistake as I did.

110mb is one of the best free hosts available. It has great uptimes and i surprisingly fast. Almost all the members on the forum post useful posts and manage to help you quickly. they provide PHP and SSI, but not MySQL, which is a setback, but if you have 350 posts on the forum you can get it activated for free. They have a one-click installer with over 30 different scripts to install, and they all work without fail. They also provide an excellent WYSIWYG editor to help you customize your site quickly and easily.

This free host offers many features, such as PHP & MySQL 5, and FTP access (limit of 50 at one time). They give you 2GB (2000MB) of storage space and a limit of 100GB (100000MB) of bandwidth per month.

I have been using their hosting for a month and I must say that I think that their service is great. They have a ticket system for support but the best way to get help is via their forum. The admin answers many problems, and the community is very supportive of each other. They have been down 1 day in the past month.

They are recommended. Currently their registration opens at random times of day because too many people are signing up. The admin says that it will open in a week when new servers are up.
